ACTING FOR FILM - PARIS WORKSHOP
5 Day Intensive: July 17th, 2017 - July 21st, 2017
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
DAY 1 - An introduction to Straeon by the coach(es) and an open discussion. This is followed by exercises which vary depending on the size of the class and the actors in it. Exercises could include physical theatre exercises, script exercises, character and relationship exercises. The exercises could include ones developed by Straeon and/or exercises from around the world.
DAY 2 - Actors will do a first of their scene. The first work is based on the idea of a camera rehearsal. The actors will go through the whole script and then get notes from the coach. Straeon coaches do not "fix" scenes. They give notes about areas the actors need to explore or areas they need to explore more. The creativity is in the actors' hands, not the coach.
DAY 3 - Actors will do a second work of their scenes. A second work is usually stop and go, with the coaches sometimes moving about the set. This is based on the idea of actually shooting the scene. Coaches move about to places where the camera could or should be. Of course, the Straeon coach is doing way more than a director should or would do, but the difference between coaching and directing will be explored.
DAY 4 - A repeat of Day 2 with a new scene and scene partner.
DAY 5 - A repeat of Day 3 with the new scene. This will be followed with an open discussion.
